In October this year, three more members of the NWPA received GPU distinctions.
Named after Greek Gods, these distinctions are sequential and only one distinction is allowed per year. Photographers are required firstly to achieve Aphrodite, followed by Hermes, before they can apply for the highest distinction – Zeus.
There are 15 categories but applicants only need to select 5 categories for each distinction. Each year the requirements get progressively more challenging: two images are needed in each category for Aphrodite (a total of 10 images), 5 for Hermes (a total of 25 images), and 10 for Zeus (a total of 50 images).
The images are judged by the Executive Committee of the GPU. Andy Polakowski achieved Aphrodite, and Sharon and Rob Prenton Jones achieved Zeus.
Huge congratulations to all three for extremely notable achievements.
